CRIFPE the most important research center on education in Canada

The Centre de recherche interuniversitaire sur la formation et la profession enseignante (CRIFPE) was founded in 1993. Since then, it has made remarkable progress in terms of its work force, productivity, and provincial, national and international outreach. It is now one of the largest centres for scientific research in education in Canada, particularly in the area of teaching and the teaching profession.

CRIFPE is the only research centre in Québec and Canada that focuses exclusively on the study of teaching and the teaching profession. An interuniversity and multidisciplinary centre, CRIFPE brings together over 500 researchers. Regular, associate and international CRIFPE researchers hailing from 32 universities work in the main social sciences and humanities disciplines applied to the study of teaching.

CRIFPE is recognized and supported by FQRSC and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). CRIFPE was awarded the first funding for education research under the SSHRC Standard Research Grants program. This is the largest SSHRC grant ever received by an education research centre. On October 11, 2005, CRIFPE won the Canadian Education Association¹s Whitworth Award for Educational Research for the best education research centre in Canada. This prestigious prize was in recognition of the Centre¹s wide range of accomplishments in the field of education research in Québec and Canada, as well as internationally. In addition, on June 13, 2007, the Association des doyennes, doyens, directeurs et directrices pour l'avancement des études et de la recherche en éducation (ADEREQ) bestowed the 2007 Prix Reconnaissance to the Centre de recherche interuniversitaire sur la formation et la profession enseignante (CRIFPE).
